Daytona Beach is once again host to the event promoters have dubbed the country's largest truck meet, which will run through the weekend at the Daytona International Speedway.

Organizers anticipate more than 15,000 spectators and thousands of custom pickup trucks. Festivities will include a bikini contest, burn-out contest, audio competition, live music and kids games. Hundreds of vendors also will fill the infield.

The first Daytona Truck Meet was held in 2014, according to the event's website. During the event last year, police and public officials complained that too many attendees were littering, driving aggressively and even urinating in public and on private lawns.

Daytona Beach police spokeswoman Lyda Longa said there will be an increased police presence through the weekend in anticipation of the event, which also coincides with local high school graduations at the Ocean Center. Unlike last year, the day's events will be held away from beachside, but Lyda said police are still expected to see large crowds on or near the beach day and night.

Organizers have said they want the Daytona Truck Meet to become as "desirable to attend as locally respected events" such as Bike Week and the Daytona 500.
