A major fire broke out in Scindia House at Ballard Pier on Friday afternoon. The fire brigade has rescued 10-12 people so far and is ensuring no more are trapped.

Scindia House is a six-storey government building in Ballard Pier that houses many departments. The fire brigade got a call around 4.50 p.m. Eight fire engines were mobilised to the spot for the level III fire. The fire is confined to the 4 and 5 floors.

Five among those rescued have been moved to St George hospital after they complained of respiratory problems. No more have been reported stranded as of now. Firefighting operations are under way.
