Vadodara: A 70-year-old businessman from the city was cheated allegedly by three unidentified persons, including two foreigners, on Thursday night. The incident occurred when Ghanshyam Patel was at his office in Karelibaug on Thursday evening. Three persons walked in and asked Rs 2,000 currency notes starting with UK series.
An accountant working in the office showed some Rs 2,000 currency notes to the trio. During their discussion, Patel, who deals in steel products, too came there. The accused insisted to have a selfie with Patel. “The trio diverted his attention and picked up 38 notes of Rs 2,000 amounting to Rs 76,000. They left the spot soon after,” said N B Dabhi, Karelibaug police sub-inspector, who is investigating the case.

The complainant learnt about the missing notes later and approached the police. “Patel said that two of them looked like foreigners and the third one was a Keralite. We have CCTV footages of the accused. We have already alerted the police teams to keep an eye on the roads going out of the city, buses, trains and even at the airport,” Dabhi added.
