Four killed, eight injured in road accident near Yadgir

Four persons were killed on the spot and eight were injured when a jeep in which they were travelling collided with a tanker carrying fly ash near Mundaragi village, about eight kilometres from Yadgir town, late night on Thursday.

The victims were identified as Jhan Paul (35), Eligebeth (43), Stephen Peter (10), all from Nazarath Colony in Yadgir, and vehicle driver Basavaraj, resident of Kotagera village.

The injured have been rushed to the district general hospital and their condition is stated to be stable.

According to the complaint registered by Yadgir Traffic Police, they were all returning from Gazarkot to Yadgir after participating in the prayer at a church in the village when the incident occurred. The tanker was being driven in a rash and negligent manner and the driver fled from the scene after the incident. The police are searching for him.

A case was registered in Yadgir Traffic Police Station.
