A traffic stop in Clare County last week led police to methamphetamine and marijuana at a Harrison home, resulting in the arrest of four people facing various charges including drug possession and operating a drug house.
Three of the four are also charged as habitual offenders which could lead to enhanced sentences if convicted.
Robert Elliot, 25, of Harrison, was stopped by police on May 24 just after 9 a.m. for a traffic violation, at which time police learned he was driving on a suspended license.
During their investigation, police learned there was methamphetamine in Elliot’s car and arrested the man, according to a media release from the Clare County Sheriff’s Office.
Information obtained in that traffic stop led investigators to a home in the 500 block of Park Street, where during a search they found methamphetamine and marijuana.
Tracy McLellan, Jason West and Kathy Corbin —all 34-years-old and all Harrison residents— were arrested at the home, according to the release.
McClellan was arraigned on charges of possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a drug house and possession of marijuana.
Her bond was set at 10 percent of $20,000 and she bonded out of the Clare County Jail.
West was charged with possession of methamphetamine and with being a four-time habitual offender.
His bond was set at 10 percent of $60,000 and he also bonded out of the jail.
Most recently discharged from probation on April 23, West’s criminal conviction history dates back to at least 2001, according to the Michigan Department of Corrections.
His past convictions include home invasion, breaking and entering, carrying a weapon with unlawful intent, operating or maintaining a drug lab, police officer resisting or unobstructed and bond absconding charges in both Clare and Isabella Counties, according to the Michigan Department of Corrections.
Corbin was arraigned on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and with being a four-time habitual offender.
Her bond was set at 10 percent of $80,000 and she remains lodged in the Clare County Jail.
On probation at the time of her arrest, Corbin’s criminal history includes multiple drug possession convictions in Clare and Midland Counties, according to the MDOC.
Elliot —the driver who police stopped initially— was charged with possession of methamphetamine, driving on a suspended licence and with being a four-time habitual offender.
He remains in the Clare County Jail in lieu of 10 percent of an $80,000 bond.
