Jeep’s 2022 Product Plan Includes Grand Wagoneer, Pickup Truck And Four New Electric SUVs

Jeep plans to expand its current range in three new segments for the brand, promising to launch 2 new models each year until 2022, the company’s CEO Mike Manley said at FCA’s five-year strategy announcement day.

Jeep will launch a total of 10 plug-in hybrid models and four fully electric ones by 2022 and offer an electrified version for each nameplate in its range by 2021.

The carmaker will launch the Wrangler-based pickup truck in 2019 and confirmed its plans for a “baby” Jeep model to slot under the Renegade and the revival of the Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer as the brand’s flagship. The company will also add a three-row mid-sized SUV, expanding its presence in Jeep Cherokee’s segment.

Jeep will stop selling diesel models in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa) as part of FCA’s strategy to ditch this fuel type completely by 2022. The SUV maker said it will bring eight plug-in hybrids and five mild-hybrids by 2022 in the region. Jeep is also targeting Level 3 Autonomy by 2021.

The brand will introduce eight new or updated models in China -the world’s largest market- including two market-specific vehicles there.

As for North America, Jeep will offer no less than eight plug-in hybrid models and enter the premium full-size segment with the reborn Grand Wagoneer. The company has also confirmed that it will launch two new sub-brands to sit along the existing Trailhawk and Trackhawk badges: the first is Desert Hawk, which will focus on high-speed sand performance and will include plenty of models including the Cherokee, and the second one is an unnamed yet badge that will focus on urban driving, offering full connectivity and all-weather capability.

FCA will also offer a subscription service that will include all of its brands, allowing customers to swap between models in FCA’s portfolio.
