Work orders for Nagpur-Mumbai e-way soon

The Nagpur-Mumbai Expressway project, also known as the Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg, has moved a step forward. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) on Thursday announced the lowest bidders for the thirteen packages of the project.

For speedy completion, the construction work of the expressway has been divided into 16 packages, with a separate contractor for each. The tendering process for the remaining three is still under way.

Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of MSRDC, Radheshyam Mopalwar, said, “We shall now immediately undertake the process of evaluation of the valuation submitted by the financial bidders. After completion of the due diligence in next few days, we may issue work orders.”

The entire project will cost ₹46,000 crore, and once completed, is slated to reduce the travel time between the two cities from 18 hours to eight. The government has acquired 81% land for the road. Some of the contractors shortlisted include L&T, Reliance Infrastructure, and Megha Engineering which is the only contractor to emerge as the lowest bidder for two packages.
