Security beefed up at actor’s house

Report of likely picketing by outfits

The city police have enhanced security cover at actor Rajinikanth’s house in Poes Garden on Thursday.

During his visit to Thoothukudi, Mr. Rajinikanth had stated that certain extremists had infiltrated the Sterlite protests, which led to the violence in which 13 people were killed in police firing.

His remark drew flak from political parties and fringe groups alike.

Following a report that fringe outfits may picket his house, more than 200 police personnel were deployed for bandobust duty. The movement of the public and fans was restricted.

The police barricaded the road leading to his house.

Vehicles were allowed into the area only after a thorough check.

In the evening, cadre of the Tamilaga Makkal Jananayaga Katchi protested on the T.T.K. Road junction, close to his residence. The police arrested them.
