GANGTOK: Over a month after announcing his entry into Sikkim politics, former India football captain Bhaichung Bhutia formally launched his Hamro Sikkim Party at Daramdin village in West Sikkim.
The regional outfit, having Bhaichung and former minister Ran Bahadur Subba as its vice presidents, was launched in front of thousands of supporters and invited leaders, among them those from the state BJP. The event also saw the unveiling of the party flag and publicity materials. “We are here to restore democracy in the true sense,” he said.
