Anna Catherine Kouvolo, 94, of Economy Borough, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, while under the compassionate care of Beaver Elder Care, Aliquippa. She was born August 4, 1923, in Mead Twp., Belmont County, Ohio, daughter of the late Andrew and Katarina (Yardas) Mihalek. Anna was a retired clerk for the meat department of the former A&P Grocery Store. She also served as the Volunteer Financial Secretary for Economy Ambulance at the inception of their service. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Anna was quite gifted at knitting, tatting, crocheting and crafting. Friends and family are blessed to have her hand crafts, particularly her afghans, as cherished heirlooms. Anna also shared her delicious cookie recipes with her daughters-in-law. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Conway. In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Alex M. Kouvolo, Sr.; her granddaughter, Lisa Priano; two brothers, George and Andrew Mihalek, and her sister, Viola "Ljuba" Mihalek Brunelli. Anna is survived by three sons and daughters- in-law, Alex (Marilyn) Kouvolo, Jr., Economy Borough; William (Carol) Kouvolo, Langhorne, Pa., and Robert Daniel "Dan" (Gloria) Kouvolo, Easley, N.C.; six grandchildren, Gregory, Andrea, Eric, Ryan, Cathleen and Leslie; six great-grandchildren, Allison, Julia, Kara, Madelyn, Asa and Parker; also nieces, nephews and extended family. Friends will be received on Sunday, June 3, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum); and on Monday, June 4, 2018 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., with a Blessing Service to follow, conducted by the Rev.
