Pari Express, a unique campaign on wheels, launched by the state police and
UNICEF to create awareness on
sexual harassment of minor girls, has been making the right noise in
Odisha. Around 15 such expresses have been doing the rounds in different parts of the state with the involvement of school, college students and the administration. The campaign has been conducted through activities like cultural programmes, street plays, mass pledging and announcements with the help of audio-visual mediums. The express travelled to several spots in Bhubaneswar and
Cuttack today and mostly tried to educate children in the slum areas, where the instances of sexual harassment of minor girls are high. Senior police officials and counsellors, along with political and administrative representatives of those areas, took part in the awareness drive.
