Pattas to non-tribals opposed

The Aboriginal villagers of Jhari in Kerameri mandal of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district on Friday alleged that revenue authorities have given pattas to non tribals in their village in violation of the Land Transfer Regulation (Amendment Act 1 of 1970). They turned back the village revenue officer who had gone to the village to distribute pattadar passbooks to farmers demanding revealing of supporting documents based on which at least seven non tribal farmers got the pieces of land regularised in an agency village.

Tahsildar Rajeshwari unsuccessfully tried to convince the tribals that the land was registered in the name of the non tribal farmers before the LTR 1 of 1970 came into effect. Villagers led by headmen Kudimetha Bheem Rao and Kursenga Barik Rao said that the photocopies of some documents shown to them were fakes.
