FALL RIVER — Whether you want to crunch or burn your way to a healthier you, two new workout facilities are coming to the city, and promise to have the fix.

Burn Boot Camp is under construction with plans to open this summer — maybe as soon as July — at Boardwalk Crossing plaza, 101 President Ave.

“We’re excited,” said Nick Marchione, owner of Boardwalk Crossing with his partner/brother Frank.

Marchione was recently working inside the roughly 4,000-square-foot space with Build Doc Inc., painting walls and getting ready to install foam flooring.

He said he’s had a lot of positive feedback about the remodeled plaza that still has some spaces available.

“There’s a lot of people coming in … a lot of positive interest. Davol Street is on the rise,” said Marchione.

Crunch Fitness is planning to open a 22,000-square-foot facility at 240 William S. Canning Blvd., at SouthCoast Marketplace in mid-September or early October, according to owner Mark Federico.

Federico said he's "very excited" about the new Fall River location and the expansion into this area.

A peek inside Crunch recently — to be located at the front of the plaza facing William S. Canning Boulevard — revealed a blank canvas, but it appeared that work crews were on the job. And, the new location is already listed on the company website.

“There were several full-service fitness centers that wanted to open at SouthCoast Marketplace, but we chose Crunch Fitness because they are one of the top operators in the country,” said Laura Cohen of CEA Group, the entity that owns the marketplace. “They will build a state-of-the-art facility with the best equipment and classes in the industry, and they can do all of this at a competitive price point.”

Crunch Fitness and Burn Boot Camp, with locations nationwide, each offers their own brand of fitness.
