Indore: City police arrested a person for stealing two-wheelers and recovered 11 two-wheelers worth more than Rs 2 lakh from his possession on Thursday. Accused Amit Jhala is associated with Kanjar gang of Dewas district. The accused is being questioned for his accomplices and other such crimes.
Additional superintendent of police Prashant Choubey said a team from Banganga police station was checking the vehicles at Palia Trisection on Wednesday night when a youth on a bike fled after seeing police team. Police team chased him when the youth fell off from the moving bike and was injured. He has been identified as Amit Jhala of Tonkhurd in Dewas district. He could not produce the papers of bike and attempted to mislead the police.
He was later taken to police station where he confessed that he stole one bike from Aurobindo Hospital parking place five days ago. The accused told police that he was involved in several bike-lifting cases in the city. After information, a team from Banganga police station took him to Tonkhurd and raided Kanjar settlement on Thursday.
The police recovered 10 more vehicles from his residence and other places. Accused had stolen the two-wheelers from Banganga, Vijay Nagar, Palasia, Shajapur, Dewas and Bhorasa police station areas. Most vehicles were stolen from the parking lots.
