Bugatti Chiron gets a Lego Technic makeover

The £2.1m price tag on the limited-edition Bugatti Chiron puts the French hypercar beyond the reach of most car fans, but Lego has launched a new Technic version that is far more affordable. 

The Lego Chiron is available to order from the toy company’s online store today for £329.99 and replaces the Porsche 911 GT3 RS as the flagship model in the Technic range, says Auto Express.

While the GT3 RS came with an impressive 2,700 pieces when it launched in 2016, the magazine says the Chiron “trumps” the Porsche with 3,599 individual parts. 

All of the hypercar’s parts are widely used in other Lego products, apart from the bespoke wheels that are designed exclusively for the Chiron model. 

Although the replica won’t reach the 261mph top speed of the real Bugatti Chiron, says Gizmodo, the Lego version still features a scaled-down 8.0-litre W16 “engine”. 

There’s also a fully functioning steering wheel, a movable rear wing and a small amount of luggage space in the front to pack a “custom Lego Bugatti overnight bag”, the tech website says. 

What’s more, Motor1 says each model comes with its own serial number under the bonnet, giving the Lego kit a similar sense of exclusivity that comes with the real car.
