Rajnath: Police personnel need to be trained every five years

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said that formal training of justice, police and prosecution, the three major wings of the criminal justice system, is necessary. Initiative must be taken in this direction. The police force should be efficient and effective at every level, for this their regular training can be arranged. Singh was inaugurating the Central Police Training Academy in Bhopal on Thursday.

Singh said that the police personnel should be trained at the intervals of every five years during the service period. This system of training has assessed the need for about 10 thousand trainers. The Bureau of Police Research and Development has been asked to take initiative in this direction. Describing the role of the Bureau in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts for the creation of Smart Police, the Union Minister said that the maximum use of technology should be ensured. He praised the academy for being totally technology-based, online movement of files, zero waste and irrigation with treated sewage water.

He explained the need for extensive plantation in the Academy and requested cooperation from the State Government. He thanked Chief Minister Chouhan for providing free land for the academy. Singh said that such an environment of confidence should be created in the public, so that the general public sees police stations as temples of justice.

Chouhan said that regular training of police is must to tackle modern challenges of internal security. He said that a tree plantation campaign will be launched in the coming month of August in state. State’s Police will plant trees at the Academy on August 15. The CM said that the state’s police will also benefit from the academy opening in Bhopal. Hawk Police force will be trained in the academy. He said that the success of the campaign being operated to deal strongly with the Naxalites, terrorists and anti-national forces in the country is apparent.

He said that the work of the police is very challenging. The role of training in this work is very significant. The role of technology in controlling crimes and law and order system is becoming increasingly important. It is necessary that the police force should also be equipped from time to time with modern equipment.

A documentary film based on the various phases from conception to formation of the academy was displayed at the ceremony. The academy is spread over 401 acres. Rs 187 crores on construction of academy building and Rs 37 crores on machine and resources have been spent.
