Farmers in Haryana will observe ten-days ‘Kisan Avkash’ (farmers onleave) protest from June 1 when they won’t supply farm products such as vegetables, grains and milk to the cities.

The protest titled ‘Kisan Avkash’ (farmers on leave), under the banner of Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh will be held across the country to press for demands of loan waiver for farmers and implementation of Swaminathan Commission.

Gurnam Singh Chaduni, Haryana chief of Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) while talking to The Pioneer said that the farmers of more than 6800 villages in Haryana are likely to participate in the protest and would not sell anything in the market for ten days.

“Protesting against the policies of Central Government, the farmers would not go to the cities to sell their produce such as crops, vegetables and milk from June 1 to June 10. On June 10, a rally will be held to raise the issues of farmers. A dharna would also be held at all districts for ten days,” he said.

Last year, various farmers’ outfit from Haryana had launched statewide agitation against the  BJP Government in Haryana and at the Centre accusing it of retracting from its poll promises and ignoring the plight of farmers, who form a large voter base in the agrarian State.
