SÃO PAULO—Pedro Parente, the CEO of Brazilian oil giant Petróleo Brasileiro SA, resigned on Friday amid strong criticism by unions of his market-oriented price policy and growing concern about government meddling in the state-controlled company.
His resignation followed a 10-day truckers strike that led the government to cut and freeze the price of diesel fuel, among other things, to end the disruptive labor action. Petrobras shares fell as much as 18% on Friday before partly recovering.
