Indore: Union finance minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday said that Jandhan bank accounts and cleanliness drive have laid a strong foundation for bright India. They have brought a transformational change in the country.
“With these changes, India will be a world leader again. It will be owners’ pride and neighbours’ envy,” Goyal said while addressing a function organised by BJP economic cell at ICAI auditorium here on Thursday. The event was supported by more than 10 business, trade, industry organisations and tax consultants.
Expressing the need of building the bright India, Goyal said Singapore and China started economic reforms later but now they are ahead of us. “About 50 years ago, Singapore sent a delegation to India to learn about our ways of progress. In 1970s, China was much behind us. But in three decades, its GDP growth rate was in double digit,” he said.
The minister laid stress on innovation in every field and said centre wants to make development a mass movement. He commended Indore’s cleanliness and said it can become a model in the world.
GDP grows at 7.7% in Q-4
Goyal said the centre GDP growth rate for financial year 2017-18 on Thursday. In the fourth quarter, Indian growth rate stood at 7.7%, while in Q-1, 2 and 3 it was 5.6%, 6.3% and 7% respectively.
