TRS has failed to implement its manifesto, says Ponnam

It couldn’t ensure 12% reservation for Muslims

TPCC vice-president and former MP Ponnam Prabhakar has alleged that the TRS government, which had attained power by making false promises, had failed to fulfill any of the promises made in the election manifesto during the last four years of its regime in the newly-formed Telangana State.

In an open letter addressed to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and a copy of which was released to the media here on Friday, he charged that the TRS, in the name of being a secular party, was cheating the minorities by colluding with the BJP.

Second official language

He said the TRS had failed to fulfill the promise of providing 12 % reservations to Muslims and making Urdu as the second official language in the State. He also said that the government had betrayed the Christians by allocating the disputed land for the construction of Christian bhavan in Hyderabad.

He alleged the government had redesigned the irrigation projects only to siphon off public money by escalating the project costs and flayed the government for allocating the contracts only to Andhra people.

The Chief Minister had promised 24 new districts, but carved out 31 districts in an unscientific manner, he said, and alleged that the government had failed to implement the KG to PG free education.

‘People cheated’

Reminding that the erstwhile Karimnagar district had played a crucial role during the Telangana Statehood movement and supported the sentiment through thick and thin, he said the TRS government had cheated the people of Karimnagar district by bifurcating the district into seven districts.

The Chief Minister’s promise of development of Karimnagar town on the lines of London and New York cities remained a distant dream, he said, and flayed the government for not sanctioning the promised government medical college in Karimnagar town.
