The Transylvania Boeing 737 had taken off on Tuesday night from Amsterdam fir the Spanish island of Gran Canaria but then then the fetid flier had unleashed an overpowering stench that made his fellow passengers literally gag as reported by one of the leading media platforms.

Initially, flight attendants made efforts to quarantine the foul-smelling man inside a lavatory, but then the pilots finally had to divert to Faro in southern Portugal so that he could be removed.

The low-cost airline had cited ‘medical reasons’ for the emergency landing but then it was unclear if they referred to the offensive traveller or the passengers who were affected by his smell.

A spokesman for Transavia mentioned that the airplane had diverted owing to medical reasons but then it was right that he smelled ‘quite a bit’.

Belgian passenger Piet van Haut described the mile-high stink as “unbearable.” He went on to add that it appeared that the man had not washed himself for many weeks and many passengers got sick and was forced to puke due to the stench caused by his body odour.
The gross-out episode was not the first to hit the airline this year.

In February, a Transavia plane en route from Dubai to Amsterdam was forced to land in the Austrian capital of Vienna after a passenger could not stop farting.
The incident sparked a brawl among several passengers.
