Baltimore

Max Scherzer pitched eight innings of two-hit ball in his eighth consecutive victory, Bryce Harper hit his 18th home run and the Washington Nationals beat the Baltimore Orioles 2-0 Wednesday night for a three-game sweep.

Scherzer (9-1), who won the Cy Young Award in 2017, struck out 12. The only runner to reach against Scherzer in the first six innings was Chris Davis, who singled in the second. After Manny Machado doubled in the seventh and Mark Trumbo walked, Scherzer fanned Davis to end the threat.

Sean Doolittle notched his 13th save.

Indians 9, White Sox 1: Corey Kluber (8-2) pitched six shutout innings as Cleveland rolled to its fifth straight win to complete a series sweep. The defending Cy Young Award winner allowed three hits and struck out 10. Michael Brantley extended his MLB-high hitting streak to 19 games.

Brewers 3, Cardinals 2: The Cardinals' Alex Reyes pitched four scoreless innings in his return from Tommy John surgery, and Oswaldo Arcia hit a go-ahead single in a two-run seventh for Milwaukee. Making his first major league appearance since Sept. 29, 2016, Reyes allowed three hits, struck out two and walked two.

Reds 7, D'backs 4: Adam Duvall's grand slam helped Cincinnati erase an early four-run deficit. Scott Schebler added a tiebreaking two-run drive in the sixth inning.

Tigers 6, Angels 1: Jose Iglesias' two-run single keyed a five-run sixth as Detroit took advantage of Shohei Ohtani's departure following the second rain delay to beat Los Angeles. Ohtani, starting for the first time since May 20, allowed one run on three hits in five innings

Royals 11, Twins 8: Mike Moustakas homered, doubled and had four RBIs in the first two innings, Jorge Soler went 4-for-5 with a homer, but Kansas City nearly lost a nine-run lead.

Pirates 2, Cubs 1: Joe Musgrove pitched seven innings for the win and his hard slide led to both teams emptying their benches.

Giants 7, Rockies 4: Brandon Crawford, hitting .412 in May, had two hits for the Giants and Gorkys Hernandez's diving catch in center thwarted a rally.
