The counting of votes for bypolls to four Lok Sabha seats and 10 assembly seats has begun on Wednesday morning.

After nine rounds of counting, RLD's Tabassum Hasan is leading by 32,600 votes over BJP's Mriganka Singh, in the much crucial Kairana Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh.

The Election Commission had ordered repolling at 73 booths after RL:D  receiving complaints of technical glitches in EVM-VVPAT machines during the bye-election on Monday. RLD had alleged that EVMs were tampered with in Dalit-Muslim dominated areas.

Here are the state-wise trends:

Maharashtra:

The BJP candidate was today leading by more than 10,000 votes over his Shiv Sena rival in the counting for Palghar Lok Sabha seat bypoll in Maharashtra.

 After the fifth round of counting today, the BJP's nominee, Rajendra Gavit, secured 44,589 votes while the Shiv Sena's Shrinivas Wanaga polled 34,218 votes, an election official said.

 The Bahujan Vikas Aghadi candidate, Baliram Jadhav, was at the third place with 32,294 votes after the fifth round.

Karnataka

The Congress was leading in the Rajarajeshwari Nagar assembly constituency here by a margin of over 8,600 votes, where counting began this morning amid tight security, as per initial trends.

 Poll officials said Congress' Muniratna has secured 16,581 votes, followed by BJP's Tulsi Muniraju Gowda with 7,901 votes and JD(S) G H Ramachandra 3,606 votes.

West Bengal

The Trinamool Congress today surged ahead of its Left Front rival in the Maheshtala Assembly bypoll by a margin of 14394 votes after initial rounds of counting, EC sources said.

 After first few rounds of counting TMC candidate, Dulal Das secured 18470 votes. The Left Front candidate Prabhat Chowdhury, who is supported by Congress, got 4076 votes,

 The BJP candidate Sujit Ghosh bagged 3590 votes.

Kerala

Saji Cheriyan of the ruling CPI(M)-led LDF was leading by a margin of 1,119 votes against his nearest Congress rival in the Chengannur by-poll as initial trends trickled in after counting began at 8 AM today.

Cheriyan, the party's Alappuzha district secretary, has polled 3,383 votes, while his nearest rival D Vijaykumar of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) has polled 2,264 votes.

 BJP's P Sreedharan Pillai is in the third place with 1,365 votes.

Meghalaya

The Congress candidate Miani D Shira is leading by over 400 votes against her nearest rival of the National People's Party (NPP) C G Momin after second round of counting for the Ampati Assembly seat, Chief Electoral Officer F R Kharkongor said.

"After second round of counting, Congress candidate got 5282 votes while NPP candidate bagged 4854 votes. Independent candidate S Koch polled 190 votes only," Kharkongor told PTI.
