AIADMK seeks longer session in Pondy assembly to discuss

The opposition AIADMK in today urged the territorial government to hold the forthcoming budget session of Assembly for a longer period to discuss various 'public issues.'

Addressing reporters here, the AIADMK legislature party leader A Anbalagan said according to the information available with him, the session commencing on June 4 would be held for a brief period.

"I have already given a letter to the V Vaithilingam urging him to hold the session for 23 days. But no reply has been received so far from the Speaker," he said.

On Rajinikanth's remarks that 'some anti-social elements had infiltrated' the locals during the anti-sterlite protests in last week, the said, "The views he (Rajini) had expressed are welcome."

Thirteen people were killed in police firing on May 22-23 when violence broke out at the protest by locals, demanding closure of in district in neighbouring over pollution issues.
