RAJBIRAJ: A woman was severely mauled by a leopard on the bank of Jita River in Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality-4 of Saptari district on Wednesday.

The injured has been identified as 30-year-old Premwati Sardar, wife of local resident Shiva Kumar Sardar.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) at the District Police Office, Mukesh Kumar Singh said that the leopard appeared out of nowhere and attacked Sardar, who was grazing a herd of cattle on the riverbank near her house yesterday.

Meanwhile, Sardar has been undergoing treatment at Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital  in Rajbiraj, informed SP Singh.
