SRINAGAR: An alert Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper on Thursday foiled a weapon snatching attempt in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district, officials said.

Police said two persons armed with axes tried to snatch the service rifle of a CRPF trooper near the mini secretariat in Kulgam town that houses the office of the district magistrate.

"The CRPF jawan sustained minor injuries but foiled the attempt," a police officer said.

After their attempt failed, the assailants reportedly escaped. Additional deployments were rushed to trace the assailants.
