US Jobless Claims Declined in Week Ended May 26

Continuing unemployment benefit claims fell by 16,000 in the week ended May 19

WASHINGTON—The number of U.S. workers filing new applications for unemployment benefits fell more than economists expected last week after rising in the two prior weeks, remaining near historic lows.

Initial jobless claims, an indication of layoffs across the U.S., fell by 13,000 to a seasonally adjusted 221,000 in the week ended May 26, the Labor Department said Thursday.
