CHENNAI: A woman tourist from Australia was allegedly robbed on the sprawling Marine Promenade on Wednesday, police said here.
Elisa's bag was snatched by the robbers while she was on the sands along with her friends. The bag contained her passport and visa papers.
Elisa immediately approached the
Australian Embassy officials and her complaint was forwarded to Chennai city police commissioner. Anna Square police have registered a case and are searching for the robbers.
Anna square police inspector Sabapathy immediately arranged temporary visa for Elisa by approaching immigration officials in Chennai.
Police personnel have collected the CCTV camera footage and are trying to locate the suspects.
Elisa came to Chennai as a tourist with her friends and she planned to visit Mamallapuram and other places on Thursday.
