Nick Grimshaw Radio 1: Matthew Wright takes credit for shock switch-up as BBC star QUITS

NICK GRIMSHAW has announced he is quitting the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show earlier today. Following the shock news, Matthew Wright has taken to Twitter to suggest he may have had a very surprising influence on the decision.

The 52-year-old hit the headlines earlier this month after he revealed he had quit The Wright Stuff after 18 years on the Channel 5 show.

And, following the announcement that Nick would no longer present the morning radio show on BBC Radio 1, Matthew claimed he could have had something to do with it.

Taking to Twitter, the presenter joked that he had “started a trend” after announcing he was departing from his TV show.

In a tweet shared with his 47,000 followers, he wrote: “See @grimmers has quit Radio 1 - looks like I’ve started a trend!”

However, some fans were quick to correct the star, as despite quitting the breakfast show, Nick will not be leaving the radio station.
