Rain brings relief from sweltering heat

Bringing relief from sweltering heat, there was rain, accompanied by thunderstorm, in several parts of the city on Thursday evening. The rain, however, was no indication of the entry of monsoon in the State but was being attributed to the cumulonimbus clouds.

The city had been experiencing quite high temperatures over the last few days touching 42 degrees Celsius. The formation of rain clouds was primarily due to the rising temperature, said Raja Rao, Meteorologist, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

He said the thunderstorm and rain were likely for the next two to three days in all parts of Telangana, including Hyderabad and coastal Andhra Pradesh. The entry of monsoon would take five to six more days.

Meanwhile, Skymet predicted that temepratures were likely to rise next week and they might touch the 44 degrees Celsius mark in a few days. However, monsoon may reach Telangana within a week, resulting in substantial relief from the heat.
