Body found in Greenwich home had been there for a 'considerable time'

Detectives from the Homicide Squad and the North Shore Police Area Command are investigating after a body was found in a house in Greenwich.

Police were called to an Greendale Street address in the leafy waterfront suburb after a body was found inside the empty premises on Tuesday.

The body has yet to be identified, and police are treating the death as suspicious.

"It’s believed the body has been at the home for a considerable time and a post mortem is being conducted this afternoon to establish the cause of death and gender," a police statement said.

The home's occupant died a year ago, with the owners organising to have it cleaned this week and the cleaners finding the body.

Police are urging anyone with information that may assist their investigation to come forward.
