NORTH SWEICKLEY TWP. — A township man was charged Wednesday after investigators received a tip and found numerous videos containing child pornography on his cell phone, police said.
According to a police report, investigators found Robert G. McDonald, 27, in possession of 20 files, most of which were videos, of child pornography.
Police said a friend of McDonald’s on May 23 made a report to North Sewickley Township police when she found what she believed was child pornography on McDonald’s phone. The woman told officers McDonald left his phone in her car, and she “went through his cell phone” because she believed he was “dealing drugs,” police said.
The woman told police she found 10 to 15 videos that depicted children between 6 and 9 years old in sexually explicit situations.
According to the report, police filed for a search warrant for McDonald’s phone the next day. Police said the phone was analyzed May 29 by officials with the Beaver County Detectives Bureau.
A total of 20 videos and photos containing child pornography were found on the phone, police said. According to the report, a majority of the videos depict children between the ages of 5 and 12.
Police described the content of the videos, all of which was sexually explicit.
McDonald, of 115 Vista Road, was charged Wednesday by the state attorney general's office with 20 felony counts of possession of child pornography and one count of criminal use of a cell phone.
He was taken to the Beaver County Jail after failing to post a $50,000 bond, records show.
