Mumbai: In an interesting twist to the high profile Sheena Bora murder case, the prime accused — Indrani Mukerjea — on Tuesday trashed the contention of the prosecution, which claims that Sheena’s signatures were forged on her resignation letter and a leave and licence agreement. She has claimed that Sheena herself signed the two documents. Instead, she accused her former employee Kajal of forging her (Indrani’s) own signature and withdrawing hefty amounts through cheques in the past.
Indrani, through her advocate Sudeep Pasbola, claimed before a special court that Sheena’s signatures were never forged by her former manager – Kajal Sharma, who is presently being examined by special judge JC Jagdale. This ‘suggestion’ was put forth by Indrani to trash the case of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that Kajal had forged Sheena’s signatures at Indrani’s behest.
Indrani has said that the alleged forgery never took place. She claimed before the court that the signatures on the resignation letter, as well as the leave and licence agreement, were those of Sheena herself. She accused her former employee Kajal of forging her (Indrani’s) own signature and withdrawing hefty amounts through cheques in the past.
This suggestion was made while Pasbola cross-examined Kajal in the courtroom. However, Kajal has denied Indrani’s suggestion and told the court that whatever she had stated so far was true and she had not been pressurised or tutored by the CBI to give false statements.
It may be noted that the CBI till date has contended that Indrani had ‘convinced’ Kajal to forge Sheena’s signatures on her resignation letter as well as on the leave and licence agreement. Even Kajal, in her recent deposition before the court had claimed that Indrani had instructed her to forge the signatures. Kajal had claimed that she was not aware that she was committing a crime by forging Sheena’s signatures. The court will continue examining Kajal on Wednesday.
