Madras High Court today directed Central Bureau of Secondary Education (CBSE) to further direct schools not to give homework to students studying in Class I and Class II.

Madras HC also asked CBSE to keep a check on schools by setting up flying squads for the new directive.

The court has directed Centre to further direct states to stop the use of non-prescribed books as it puts an unnecessary burden on students.

The Centre and National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has been asked to file a report within four weeks regarding this matter.
