Pompeo’s Position Underscores Iranian Strength

A senior military official said US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s recent comments against Iran are in fact a long list of Iran’s strengths, adding that it proves that no one can undermine the country’s missile power or regional influence. “The IRGC has reached a level of power that compels the US secretary of state lays out 12 conditions for a new deal with Iran and calls on the country to end its regional influence,” Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Deputy Commander Brigadier General Hossein Salami said on Tuesday, Tasnim News Agency reported. This means that US officials are unable to end the Islamic Republic’s presence in the region and that is why they call on the country to do so, he added. “They think Iran should end the development of its missile (program). Because they cannot force us, they are asking us to do it ourselves.”   Clarifying his point, the general said, “No one can destroy our missile power.”
Pompeo said on May 21, that Washington will increase financial pressure on Iran by imposing the “strongest sanctions in history” on the Islamic Republic if Tehran refuses to curb its nuclear program and missiles among other things.
