A Fairfield County grand jury indicted a 21-year-old man May 24 on aggravated murder and other charges in the shooting death of a Violet Township homeowner during a burglary April 8.
Raeqwan J. Hancock is accused of killing 60-year-old John LeTourneau and then setting fire to his residence in the 6200 block of Blacklick-Eastern Road.
Hancock broke into the residence and encountered LeTourneau, whom he fatally shot and then set fire to the residence to cover up the crime, Fairfield County Sheriff Dave Phalen said.
The indictment charges Hancock with two counts of aggravated murder and single counts of aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, aggravated arson and robbery.
County Common Pleas Judge David A. Trimmer ordered Hancock held on $5 million bond. Hancock already was being held in the Fairfield County Jail following an indictment April 26 that charged him with burglary. He is accused of breaking into a residence in the 13100 block of Tollgate Road in Violet Township on April 6.
Hancock, whose last known addresses were a residence on Wild Flower Drive in Columbus and First Gate Road in Reynoldsburg, was convicted last year of theft, obstructing official business and resisting arrest, according to Franklin County Municipal Court records.
