Two held; 9 motorcycles recovered

The Semmanchery police arrested two persons in connection with two-wheeler theft cases and recovered nine motorcycles worth over ₹15 lakh.

Officials from Neelankarai, Semmanchery and Tiruvanmiyur were on the watch as a number of cases had been reported in their areas. Intensified night patrol and frequent vehicle-checks during daytime helped the police nab two persons near Kumaran Nagar in Semmanchery.

Asif Mohamed, 24, of Indira Nagar, Adyar, and Naveen Kumar, 23, of Theli village in Villupuram district, were caught riding a stolen motorcycle. During interrogation, the police found that there were a number of cases pending against the two at various police stations.

The team recovered nine motorcycles from them, which were stolen from Tiruvanmiyur and adjoining areas.
