GM NCR instructs staff to be more vigilant in hot conditions

ALLAHABAD: With the ongoing hot condition making life challenging for common man, authorities of North Central Railway (NCR) has instructed all its staff, from ticket inspector to porters and linemen to be extra vigilant to minimize the cases resulting from hot weather.

To meet out any eventuality or accident which may be caused because of hot weather, general manager, NCR, MC Chauhan has advised that all the fire extinguishers, installed in trains and other installations, should be thoroughly checked, so that in case of emergency they could be utilized.

Apart from this, he has also laid emphasis on proper checking of wiring and electrical fittings during primary and secondary maintenance of trains. He also instructed that station masters, porters and gateman should be sensitized to become more vigilant and alert towards passing trains so that every minute fault could be diagnosed well in time, before it could become fetal, informed PRO, NCR, Amit Malviya.

He said the hot weather patrolling should continue and proper track maintenance be ensured considering high temperature. He instructed the officers to carry out awareness campaign using mobile video van, in regions nearby the sections prone to trespassing and cattle run over.

Apart from this, authorities have also stressed on the issue of ‘mission zero grievances’. “Grievances of running staff should not only be resolved on priority basis but it should be done in time bound manner and grievance redressed procedures should be displayed in lobbies and running rooms”, said the GM.

The issue of improving punctuality was also taken up by the authorities for which a multipronged approach consisting of enhanced operational monitoring, reduction in asset failures, reduction in response time to asset failures and reduction in external factors adversely affecting punctuality-in particular unwarranted alarm chain pulling (ACP) and cattle run over (CRO) cases. He also instructed to work on pre monsoonal precautions. He desired that based on previous experiences, proper drainage should be made in yards along with maintenance of relay rooms.
