To quote Obasa at the stakeholders meeting, “A bill for a law to provide for the establishment of the Lagos State Tourism Promotion Agency and for connected purposes” organized by the Ad-hoc Committee on Tourism, Arts and Culture, at the Assembly Complex, Alausa Ikeja.
Hon. Wasiu Ehinlokun, the Deputy Speaker who represented the speaker mentioned that for the bill to have great impact after turning into a law there’s urgency for the stakeholders to make a robust input into the content of the bill.
Obasa stated that the assembly would house all sorts of criticisms initiating from the stakeholders meeting on the bill, explaining that tourism in other developed countries has been changed into revenue generation tool.
“There are still many opportunities to tap from tourism by the state government to boost Lagos economy. The economic potentials in tourism will add more economic value to the state and also help in achieving the blueprint of the state’s tourism policies”, said Obasa
Mr Steve Ayorinde, the Commissioner of Tourism, Arts and Culture, in his comment said that there is a call for the agency to be in existence so as to merge the tourism performance of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
