Arming ourselves to the hilt is great for the gun lobby, but will greatly reduce our security. More guns leads to greater inability of police to tell the good guys from the bad guys, especially when an active shooting is taking place. Entering such a fray would be suicidal. Who in their right mind would order security to enter such a situation?

Weeding out dangerous would-be gun owners through strict background checks, and eventually rechecking backgrounds of those who already have had one 10 or more years ago, would do much to reduce the killing of innocent people.

Open carry laws need to be eliminated. In a big room full of people, openly carrying guns, how can police tell, at a glance, who to immediately question? Open carry becomes a policing nightmare.

Either we become very intelligent about gun ownership, or a number of us will become very dead because we didn't.
