Three workers were today charred to death and another injured when hot material leaked from a boiler in a steel melting plant and fell on them at Wada in Palghar district, police said.
"The incident occurred due to a leakage in the boiler of the plant situated at Abhitghar in Wada taluka. While three workers suffered severe burn injuries and succumbed, another worker was injured," said Wada police station senior inspector Sudam Shinde.
The deceased are identified as Nilesh Yadav (28), Sunny Verma (28), and Sanjay Gupta (27), he said, adding that the injured worker was hospitalised.
The bodies have been sent for postmortem, the officer said, adding that further investigation is underway.
