1. TRUFFLE FESTIVAL

The mornings are getting frosty which means truffle season is here. The Canberra Truffle Festival officially starts on June 1 and runs until August, with more than 250 events showing off the region's fresh black truffles. During the festival you can taste fresh truffles at a number of restaurants and wineries, head to a farm and watch the truffle dogs in action, learn from the experts at a cooking class, or buy some fresh truffle to take home and cook up in your own culinary masterpiece. 2. HURLY BURLEY WINTER FAIR

The new Hurly Burley Winter Fair is on in Garema Place this Saturday. From noon until late, there will be markets, two stages of live entertainment, food, a bar, dancing, art projections and fires to warm up next to. For the kids there will be free carousel rides, marshmallow toasting and other activities. The fair is all ages, on from noon-10pm and entry is free.

3. WARM SOUP, COOL JAZZ

The Mercure Canberra has all the makings of a cosy night out on Saturday with a hot soup bar, mulled wine, live jazz, free local wine tastings, and a roaring fire place. It's the third year running for Warm Soup, Cool Jazz, and entry is free. On from 5pm until late at Mercure Canberra, Cnr Ainslie and Limestone Ave.

4. NOT THE MESSIAH

Calling all Monty Python fans. The Canberra Choral Society is teaming up with the National Capital Orchestra for a one-night-only performance of Not The Messiah (He’s A Very Naughty Boy) a comic oratorio inspired by Monty Python’s Life of Brian, composed by Eric Idle and Spamalot collaborator John Du Prez. 5. SENSE AND SENSIBILITY

Described as "Jane Austen on theatrical steroids", Kate Hamill's adaptation of Sense and Sensibility, performed by the State Theatre Company Ensemble, is on at Canberra Theatre Centre until Saturday. Shows on Friday at 8pm, and Saturday at 2pm and 8pm. Tickets at canberraticketing.com.au.
