The Director of Vigilance, Enforcement and Disaster Management, GHMC, Viswajit Kampati said 900 CC cameras will be installed across the city to control dumping of construction and demolition waste in the city’s lakes.

Further, the cell will deploy special efforts to enforce the ban on plastic covers less than the prescribed thickness, by imposing penalties on the errant. Tablet phones and body cameras will be given to the officials on the ground for effective enforcement, he said in an interaction with media on Tuesday.

A lakes and assets protection wing will be established soon besides eight quick response teams, disaster prevention teams, and others. As of now, 16 vehicles have been given to the Vigilance & Enforcement wing, of which eight will go to the disaster management and eight more to the enforcement. A total of 44 outsourcing staff from the street-lights wing who are in excess of the requirement, have been transferred to this wing and being trained in disaster management.
