CM says AAP govt has increased spending on education, sees it as an investment

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia visited the CBSE Class XII exam toppers of Delhi government schools on Tuesday.

Mr. Kejriwal and Mr. Sisodia, who is also the Education Minister, met the students who got the highest marks in their respective streams, as well as the overall topper, Prince Kumar, the son of a Delhi Transport Corporation bus driver.

After visiting the topper of the vocational stream, Shahanaz, a resident of a government-run orphanage in Daryaganj, Mr. Kejriwal said that the Delhi government would continue to support her and the other toppers.

He added that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had doubled the funds for education in its first budget after coming to power.

This, he said, was “an investment” and “not an expenditure”.
