Man picked up for "theft" dies in custody

: A 29-year-old man, who was picked up allegedly in connection with a theft case, today died in custody, the police said.

He had liver problem and suffered heart stroke, thepolice said dismissing reports as rumours spreading in some that a "lockup death" had taken place at station.

Clarifying that it was "custodial death", police said he was suffering from ill-health for many days.

While police was taking him to recover "property", he died following stroke at Bhongir, a statement fromCyberabad PoliceCommissionerate said.

Further details will be known after post-mortem, it said.
