A 27-year-old Saskatoon man is facing kidnapping and forcible confinement charges after an arrest stemming from a report of a woman screaming for help in the back seat of a vehicle.
Saskatoon police got the report on Tuesday around 9:20 a.m. CST, according to a news release. They were told the vehicle the woman was travelling in was headed south on Clarence Avenue.
Several detachments were involved in the subsequent perimeter setup and grid search. As they were searching, police got a call from the kidnapped woman saying she had her infant daughter with her and that both of their lives were in danger.
At around 9:50 a.m., police located the vehicle in the RM of Corman Park and arrested the man. He is charged with kidnapping, forcible confinement, uttering threats, possession of a controlled substance and a breach of undertaking.
No one was injured in the incident. RCMP say they are not releasing the man's identity in order to protect the identities of the victims.
