Boy who suffered collapsed lung on ropes to be released from hospital
A Marist College boy who was critically injured in a high ropes incident on a school camp is expected to be released from Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in the next few days.
Marist College Ashgrove issued a statement on Wednesday that 14-year-old Connor Petterson was continuing to improve after suffering a collapsed lung among other injuries.
Connor and his fellow year 9 students were on the second day of a school camp at Adventure Alternatives near Woodford when the incident occurred.
The boy was airlifted to Lady Cilento Children's Hospital with severe neck and head injuries, and the camp cancelled.
Earlier in the week Marist College said Connor was "sitting in a chair" and was being weaned off his medications as his condition continued to improve.
Adventure Alternatives issued a statement on Tuesday saying they were "in awe of this impressive and amazing young man".
"We have been fortunate to have regular contact with both the school and Connor’s parents who have given us updates on his progress," the company said.
A Workplace Health and Safety investigation into the incident is ongoing.
