YSRC MPs seek action on defected members

YSRCP MP Y.V. Subba Reddy said in New Delhi on Tuesday that Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said that she would look into the matter of disqualifying three party MPs — Kothapalli Geetha, Butta Renuka and S.P.Y. Reddy — who defected to the TDP.

When the MPs raised the issue, the Speaker is believed to have said that the matter was with the Privileges Committee. At this juncture, the MPs told Ms. Mahajan that Rajya Sabha members Sharad Yadav and Anwar Ali were disqualified almost immediately by Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu when the JD(S) requested it. Mr. Subba Reddy said the Speaker assured them that she would look into the matter soon.

Not to attend LS sessions

The MPs said that they would not change their mind about their resignations as they want to go to the people on the issue of SCS and bifurcation promises. Asked if they would attend Lok Sabha sessions if their resignations were not accepted, they said the question did not arise.
