Yesterday morning (May 19), I tuned in to the daily briefing of the Royal nuptials the precise moment Prince Harry threw back the veil of his bride.

It was a beautiful, extremely meaningful action.

“Throw back the Veil!” We don’t appreciate symbolism anymore and thus don’t realize how deeply spiritual this singular ritual is. Long ago, marriages were arranged by the prospective couple’s fathers. (Still is in some cultures).

Once the arrangements were complete, the couple were engaged but in reality, engagement was equivalent to marriage then. The prospective bride, often quite young, was made to wear a veil until the wedding.

The prospective husband might not have known of the arrangements and may never have laid eyes upon his future bride. So, when the wedding finally arrived, “throwing back the veil” was the first time he saw his bride in all her beauty and undefiled purity.

The action was called “Apocalypsis” (Greek) literally “to throw off the cover.” Our word apocalypse comes from this action: to Reveal, Revelation. This of course, is a reference to the final book of the New Testament and alludes to the marriage of Christ to the Church (his bride).

Seeing this struck me as significant in view of Mr. Meek's letter of a few weeks ago. His closing statement about our not having the answers to every question and maintaining academic curiosity and continuing to ask questions is sound advice.

I agree, there have been significant scientific discoveries the past few centuries but it is not the observations with which I disagree, it is the interpretation of all that data. This is where Science deludes us- by giving the impression it has all the answers.

What conceit! It certainly does not and cannot provide all the answers. Some things can only be answered by Revelation. With respect, I would like to address some of Mr. Meek's observations.

Unfortunately, I have run out of my “word” ration. So, provided the Editors don’t trash my computer and break my fingers, stay tuned for the next installment of “Science vs. God.” Coming soon to a paper near you!
