An intoxicated Cape Coral couple that refused to leave a bar landed in the Lee County Jail after screaming at police, employees, patrons and each other, police reported.
As Kevin and Sondra Moorer went to Midtown Lounge, 2138 Santa Barbara Blvd. S., about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, a probable cause affidavit reports, a witness saw Kevin Moorer push Sondra Moorer, knocking her down and toppling a flower pot.
They went into the lounge and continued fighting, threatening patrons and employees, witnesses reported. Kevin Moorer, 43, also was throwing bar stools but did not hit anyone. The couple refused to leave when the employees asked them.
When police arrived, the pair was verbally fighting in the parking lot as patrons watched, the report indicates. Kevin Moorer evaded police, walking behind his car while screaming at Sondra Moorer, 56, and the officer.
As the officer attempted to calm Kevin Moorer, Sondra Moorer walked over and began yelling at her husband. She ignored directives to stop and thwarted attempts by officers to handcuff her, swinging her arms and pulling away.
While the officers confronted Sondra Moorer, Kevin Moorer fled before falling down in a lawn behind the lounge.
Both Moorers continued to be belligerent at the jail, the report indicates, with Kevin Moorer booked as disorderly.
Kevin Moorer was charged with resisting an officer, disorderly intoxication and battery. He remained jailed Wednesday afternoon on $3,750 bail. He is next due in court June 26.
Sondra Moorer was charged with disorderly intoxication. She remained jailed on $1,500 bail Wednesday afternoon, court records indicate. She is next due in court June 19.
